Haptic Belt for the Blind

Using a Kinect or Kinect-like device for helping those without sight move around an obstacle-riddled environment.

Capstone design course at Oklahoma State University for Electrical and Computer Engineering. Our team of four is working on a project to use either the Kinect or possibly the Asus Xtion device for detecting objects like chairs, stairs, tables, people, etc. In order to convey this information, we plan on using a haptic system with vibrating motors and audio alerts for relaying more complex signals.
